Heat Treatment Fluids – AQUA-QUENCH 142

Description

AQUA-QUENCH® 142 is an amber, transparent fluid specifically designed for induction hardening applications. It has been especially developed to minimise residual sticky deposits on equipment and quenched parts. AQUA- QUENCH 142 guarantees long service life without repeated biocidal treatments, thanks to advanced boron-free and formaldehyde-releasing-free technology.

Applications

AQUA-QUENCH® 142 is diluted with water in use and provides extremely uniform quenching characteristics. Compared to simple water quenching, it eliminates steam pockets and high residual stress, and avoids the formation of soft spots and inconsistent mechanical properties.

AQUA-QUENCH 142 can be used for a very wide range of induction and flame hardening applications, including the quenching of crankshafts, camshafts, transmission components, starter ring gears and bearings.

3% to 5% solutions of Aqua-Quench 142 improve the wettability on the component surface thereby imparting a more uniform quench and preventing soft spotting. These low concentrations are generally used for steels of low hardenability type XC.

5% to 15% solutions of Aqua-Quench 142 permit to treat steel type CrMo4. The concentration will be adapted in function of shape of the work piece and hardness required. This range of concentration permit also the treatment by induction of cast iron GS.

15% to 25% solutions of Aqua-Quench 142 permit to treat alloyed steel type NiCrMo16
